Preparing for College
We've included some wisdom to help get you and your student prepare for heading off to college.
Do not take for granted that basic life skills are known by your child! Three months into college, I learned my daughter did not know she needed to wash her sheets regularly. Speak to your child about how a small decision could have a lasting, negative impact. My husband scalped a football ticket in college, was arrested, and plead guilty. Twenty-three years later, the adoption of our child could not proceed forward due to his “arrest” record. An impulsive decision can have lasting effects.
Remind your student – “Be true to yourself!” Have fun, but make good choices. Work hard, focus and aim high. Always ask for help when you feel down. Remember what fuels your passion and makes you dream.
